The athletic program at Seaside School strives to assist each student reach their athletic potential; building skills, training for a sport, increasing confidence, self-esteem, and sportsmanship. This is accomplished through the participation of parents, coaches, and the community working together. In 2014, fifth grade was added to the SNS. Fifth graders are allowed to participate on the junior varsity teams only. The Florida High School Athletic Association guides the middle school athletics program.

All students are required to have a State of Florida sports physical and consent documents. Seaside Neighborhood School competes with schools in Walton County and schools from adjoining counties in the Panhandle of Florida. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from practices and games for all sporting events.


Tennis

Season: Spring

  • Practices and home matches are held at Seaside and Watercolor tennis courts. Students learn from tennis pros at Seaside Swim and Tennis along with Coach Dana Akridge; learning to build strength and skills for the perfect game. Competition is against local schools. Matches consist of fun and exercise.

    Cross Country

    Season: August – October

    • Cross Country has the most participation from students of all the sports at SNS. Coach Serena Richard trains students all year to be the best they can be. They run through the trails of Seaside and Watercolor. Over the history of Seaside‚Äôs participation in cross country, several SNS students have advanced to state competition in track and field.

      Soccer

      Season: October – December

      • Boys and girls practices begin around late September with matches starting in October. All home matches are held at Helen McCall Park on Moll Drive. Great coaching from local staff assist boys and girls in advancing their skills in soccer.

        Basketball

        Season: September – December

        • Seaside boys basketball team, coached by Jeff Martin and Bill Burden, won All-County in 2013. The boys and girls have a varsity and junior varsity team this year. Practices and home games are held at Butler Elementary and South Walton High School. Building a great program for boys and girls from grades five (5) through eight (8). Parents volunteer their services by collecting admissions and concession sales.

          Baseball and Softball

          Season: January – April

          • Girls softball and boys baseball begin practices at the end of January with games starting early February. Practices and home games are played at Helen McCall Park against local schools. Both teams are competitive and growing in numbers to build a strong athletic structure.

            Golf

            Season: Spring

            • The golf team is a combination of boys and girls. Practices and home matches are held at Origins or Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club.

              Volleyball

              Season: August – October

              • We have one of the best middle school girls volleyball teams in the South Walton area. Coach Sally Bailey puts her heart and soul in striving to encourage each girl do her best. Whether their best is serving or volleying. This year, SNS will have three teams: varsity, junior varsity and Sharks in training. Practices and games will be held at different locations in Walton County. Home games will be at The Boys and Girls Club in Santa Rosa Beach.
