The 2006-2007 year was distinguished by the many accomplishments of our students who were extremely successful in academics, sports, music, arts, and community service. Seaside Neighborhood School earned some of the highest scores in the county middle schools on the FCAT and made AYP for the fourth year in a row. Our school grade was again an A.
School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council is comprised of Seaside Neighborhood School board members. This board is in compliance with the mandates of the School Improvement Plan.
As allowed by statute (F.S. 1001.452), the Walton County School district maintains a District Advisory Council (DAC) to assume the responsibilities required of School Advisory Councils. The 61 member DAC is made up of administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students and community representatives from all schools chosen to reflect the District demographic profile. The majority of the DAC members are not employed by the Walton School District.
The DAC meets monthly for updates and training on the school improvement process and annually evaluates the school improvement plans from all schools for clarity, completeness, and attainability; meets with school officials to make necessary revisions; recommends adoption to the School Board; receives updates on progress and monitors expenditures. Each school organizes its own, smaller, School Advisory Committee to create the School Improvement Plan and then carry out and monitor specific school improvement strategies.
Seaside Neighborhood School was established in 1995 by a group of concerned parents and other community members. The goal of this group was to create and maintain a small school based on their mission that is supported by a significant body of scholarly work.
